AACB Chilled Water Systems

Contact Us

The Austcoil range of Active Chilled Water Beams is manufactured wholly in Australia and provides the ultimate in design, configuration, construction and performance. The Austcoil Centre Beam is designed for many types of applications, including, but not limited to meet the needs of the Hotel, Aged Care Suite and Office Floor markets.
This series is ideally suited for location within the ceilings of these zones.

CHILLEDWATER ACTIVEBEAMS

DESIGN AND OPERATION
Active chilled beams systems are rapidly being recognised as the air conditioning technology of the future, and a key component to achieving an Australian Building Greenhouse 5 SEDA Star Rating. Savings in the overall carbon footprint can be achieved. Unlike typical Chilled Water Fan Coil Units systems which require the chilled water to be cooled to 6 degree C, the water in Austcoil’s Active chilled beam system only needs to be cooled to 12 degree C. This difference requires significantly less energy. It also increases the viability of other cooling mediums, the use of water reservoirs, etc.
Reduced energy and capacity requirements from chillers are also viable, and are currently being used as a solution in conjunction with these chilled beams. The Austcoil AACB-H Series Unit Beams has approx.31 per cent less energy consumption than a traditional Air Flow, Fan Coil system.

The Active Beam unit has no fans and the air movement through coil is induced by high-pressure primary air being delivered from a Central Air Handling or Fan Coil Unit. The primary air is passed through an specially designed nozzles located within the induction unit creating a venturi effect on the secondary air. This induction of secondary air draws back from the conditioned space/zone through the AIU coil. The secondary air fuses with the primary air and is then discharged into the conditioned space/zone. The cooling and /or heating coil operates with either chilled or hot water delivery. The space/suite temperature is controlled by a sensor regulating or closing an in-line Chilled/Hot water control valve. On a call for heating within the space/suite the coil in the Active Beam unit cancels the cooling energy in the primary air.

Should a high cooling load in a space/suite be required at the same time that other spaces/suites require heating, reheating of the primary air will take place in the spaces that require that heating. Moisture may form on the coil under varying air conditions and needs to be collected and drained to waste. Sensible heat is primarily generated by lights, people, etc. Fresh, dry air can be supplied to the space/suite to compensate for the latent (wet) heat gains and in order to supply fresh air to the area. Latent heat is generated by things like people, and in some regions, outside air directly entering a space.

Condensation will occur on the beam if the dew point of a room rises beyond that of the temperature of the water being supplied to the chilled beam. The water entering the chilled beam must be approximately 0.5 degree Centigrade above the dew point of the space/zone. The design, application and location can be considered when higher latent heats are experience or lower air off temperatures is required for de-humidification. Moisture forming on the cooling coil would be drained via the condensate drain.

AIU Series Induction Units

The Austcoil range of Induction Units are manufactured wholly in Australia and provides the ultimate in design, construction and performance. The Austcoil units are designed to meet the needs of both the replacement and new project markets with Ceiling, Floor/Console and Horizontal models available.

The AIU Series induction units provides energy savings over standard single ducted reheat systems and allows for control of perimeter space/zones via utilising waste heat both in the operation with low primary air temperatures and return chilled water temperatures. Savings in the overall carbon footprint can be achieved.
The induction unit has no fans and the air movement through coil is induced by high-pressure primary air being delivered from a central air handling unit.
